A simple divorce is usually one that is very easy. Usually the Husband and Wife each have a car, a home and maybe children. If they have children, they have an idea on how they would like to share the children. Often times the Husband and Wife have been contemplating divorce for some time, and have worked through most of their anger and resentment that the marriage is ending.
A simple divorce is often referred to as uncontested. In an uncontested divorce, the parties will usually not need to go to court. They can proceed through mediation or each can have their own attorney, with the focus of the divorce on working toward settlement. If a dispute arises which cannot be resolved, the parties can either go to court or to a private arbitrator on that one issue.
If you believe your divorce will be simple, you should research the options available to you that will keep you away from unnecessary litigation, such as mediation and collaborative law.
